Primitive Reflex Integration
A Brain Development Course for Parents & Children
This is the best place to start when paving the way for proper brain development.
Once reflexes are integrated, the "gaps" in their development improve bringing long term results. The foundation of the nervous system must be strong before higher brain centres can mature. This simply means that once reflexes & sensory systems integrate, our "thinking brain", needed for higher-level functioning, is better able to do its job.
Do you worry that your child finds learning difficult? Perhaps they struggle with social relationships or emotional regulation? Or they have had a suspected or formal neurodevelopmental diagnosis? (ADHD, Dyslexia, Sensory processing disorder etc…)
Then this is the starting point for your family!
Join me in this mini course where I will cover the following:
The Core Primitive Reflexes
Explore the purpose behind each reflex & associated symptoms of retention. Learn how they are essential for optimal brain & body development.
Timing of Reflex emergence & integration
Primitive Reflexes overlap in emergence & integration during infancy & help each other integrate. If one reflex is intact, its stimulation may help another reflex integrate. How they overlap in emergence & integration is illustrated in this mini course.
Integration
How to integrate each primitive reflex accurately with step-by-step written & video instructions. Filling these ‘gaps’ in development prior to balancing the brain is the most significant step in transforming your child’s brain.
Neurodevelopmental Movements
Neurodevelopmental movements & visual exercises are included. These help to actively integrate reflexes through full body movement & are essential for children with dysfunction & those who struggle with cross-body movements. Visual exercises also start to stimulate the sensory systems.
Core & Postural Stabilisation
One huge contributing factor to children who experience delays is low tone. Core & postural stability are equally important & also help integrate reflexes faster by giving the brain additional input. Without proper control from our core, the spine can’t send appropriate signals to the brain for processing. The postural system is also the foundation of the vestibular & visual systems, so to make gains in these areas the postural system must be stable.
Brain Hemispheric balance is an essential part of Untapped Brains. It is known that the 2 brain hemispheres have completely different jobs & control different types of thinking, movement & processing.
We are all born with Primitive Reflexes.
At birth, primitive reflexes are present to assist with survival. Most develop in utero. These are automatic movement patterns that are designed to keep the newborn alive and help with development through infancy.
The kicker here is that these reflexes are not supposed to stay forever.
If a primitive reflex is retained – that is still present after 12 months of age, certain challenges may arise.
Each reflex comes with its own set of movements & leads to new & different developmental milestones.
If a specific reflex is retained, it may affect a specific area of development.
Skills affected by retained primitive reflexes can include reasoning, attention, planning, organising, processing speed, emotional regulation to name a few.
Car Sickness | Highly Strung Behaviour |
Fidgety (ants in the pants) | Bed Wetting |
Anxiety | Lack of eye contact |
Hypersensitivities / sensory issues |
Poor balance & coordination |
Learning struggles | Processing disorders |
Fight/flight | Low muscle tone |
Eye tracking difficulties | Toe walking |
Easily fatigued | Irrational fears |
Frequent tantrums | Low tone |
Poor attention & focus | Developmental Delays |
The presence of these symptoms among others represents a disorganisation within the brain. This leaves the child unable to regulate their mind and body because there is a disconnection between their brain & body. This is referred to as a “functional disconnection” by Dr Robert Melillo. Re-connecting the networks in the brain is possible thanks to neuroplasticity – the ability to change the brain).
All families who choose to participate in this course, will have the opportunity to contact me to discuss their child’s unique case & future steps should they wish to do so.
Completion of this course will also give you discounted access to the full Brain Reconnections Program.
